The Origin of 'Parisine'





Parisine, is a word coined around 1870, when Nestor Roqueplan, a French journalist and columnist (also director of Opera de Paris for some time), attempted to qualify the magical and special spirit of Paris.



Capturing the quintessence of grace and softness characteristic of Parisian spirit. By 1900, Roqueplan’s dreams were realized. The brand Ed.Pinaud drew inspiration from them to create the signature perfume. Colette, a famous French novelist became the symbol of freedom and sensuality, was the muse of this Paris-in-a-bottle.



Parisine embodied the essence of Paris, which at the time found a new life with Baron Haussman’s campaign of urban modernization, World Exhibition and generic electricity, earning the name of Ville- Lumière, the City of Lights.



In 2015, the very essence of Paris is reborn in retail concept dedicated to fragrances. A new experience, a new way of living one’s home through scents.


Whether it is for a personal perfume or a home fragrance, Ed.Pinaud and Parfumes D’Orsay, the two legendary brands, opened the door to a magical world, treasure of emotions to adopt to one’s life.

Our Fragrance Heritage



Ed Pinaud





Edouard Pinaud, was the renowned perfumer of Royalties of Europe and Northern Asia in the 19th century, a brand that had written the most beautiful pages of French perfumery history.


During the early 20th century, Ed Pinaud constantly received the highest awards during international exhibitions. Its fame declined in the late 20th century due to economic crisis and world wars.


In 2000s it was relaunched. Having the prestigious heritage of more than 170 years, today the house of Ed Pinaud is still in the business of fragrances, creating unique and elegant French perfumes.



Nogara





The original name of the company was Pélissier-Aragon founded in 1850 by Mr Alziary, a perfumery in Grasse.


After a successful 50-year of expansion, changes of political landscape and social in Europe, the perfume house, “Nogara” created / established in 1924, inspired by the precious raw materials of the region.


Scent can evoke one’s memory and that is how Nogara starts.



At the beginning of 1920s, a young man from France, Pierre went hunting in the forest. He was attacked by a beasts horribly and lost his eyesight. An owner of an orchard saved him and took him to his manor.

His daughter, Julien took care of Pierre meticulously every day. Although he could not see but he could feel how gentle Julien was and the scent of citrus and wood whenever she moved.


As the young man recovered and left the manor, Julien and her family moved away as well. Pierre visited a perfumer and asked him to mingle a fragrance same as the scent of the girl. Although scent is hard to be described, Pierre still told every detail that he could remember, which was a vivacious citrus scent.


With the bottle of perfume, Pierre eventually found Julien. Julien was moved by Pierre’s sincerity and decided to spend her whole lifetime with him. This perfume, Bouquet of Chypre, was also the first perfume that Nogara launched after it was renamed.


Nowadays the brand is revived at Parisine.
